Somehow it’s almost 2022. There is hope despite two novel waves of COVID, the Great Resignation, and jobs reports that keep saying things could be better. Lauren Hansen identifies the Top 10 Paying Remote IT Jobs in 2022 in her article for CIOinsights here. Three appear below. The takeaway? Don’t put your best business blazer/pajama bottom suit away yet.

Mobile App Developer

Although you don’t have to be fluent in over 6-million forms of communications, fluency in languages that support iOS and Android operating systems, like Java, is a big plus. As a mobile app developer, you will create and debug apps on smartphones and tablets. Remember, nobody likes mobile app crashes. According to the article, “A bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, or computer science will set you up well for this job. An added bonus is any experience that you have creating and releasing your own mobile apps.”

Java Developer

Here the water gets a little deeper. Java developers “create apps with minimal latency, deploy, and then test, fix, and re-deploy as part of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Java developers may also be tasked with maintaining legacy enterprise apps.” Also, according to the Larsen article, “…you should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, as well as some experience with Java specifically. If you have some understanding of SQL or OOP, employers will view that as a bonus.”

Front-End Developer

If you have an artist’s itch to scratch, you get plenty of opportunities to be creative as a front-end developer. Here you create what end-users interact with on websites and mobile apps. From the article, “To design interfaces, front-end developers use programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as modern frameworks like React. For this type of role, you should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science.”
